I thought there was a working compass when using the NAV ..is there a way too add a working compass for this head-unit so in can use my cool functioning apps with it.

have you look to the playstore ?? there is a lot of apps with that.
I don't think the unit has a compass sensor, so no direction type apps would work.

That is correct. There is no compass sensor in these units (or any Chinese unit for that matter)
