JY-UO126N3 steering column controls on 2002 Nissan Xterra
#1
I have a JY-UO126N3 that I Installed in my 2002 Nissan Xterra last fall, and have slowly gotten most everything working. However, steering column audio controls still don't work right.

I have this harness, recommended by Joying: https://www.joyingauto.com/nissan-car-gps-navigation-harness-for-sale.html

My original stereo had two wires from the steering column to the stereo head unit. The wiring is documented on page EL-34 here: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Xterra/2002_Xterra/el.pdf

It shows there are two wires (15 and 16) coming from the steering column stereo controls (lower left). There are two wires in the Nissan dash wiring harness that connected to the original stereo that seem to be these two. If I connect an ohmmeter between these two wires, and press steering column buttons, I record different resistance values, which fits with what the wiring diagram shows. I have connected these two wires to the two KEY wires (KEY1, KEY2) on the Joying head unit, but in the Controls setup, I do not see any values shown when I press steering column buttons.

At Joying's suggestion, I then connected the KEY and CAN OUT Canbus connectors on the back of the Joying head unit. Still, I don't see any changes in the Controls screen, though I can measure some resistance changes with an ohmmeter: https://photos.app.goo.gl/k5vLQpJvoYQB2PBP8

This shows me pushing and holding buttons with no change onscreen:

I have a good solid ground, and the two KEY wires are connected. What else could I be missing here?

I'm asking here because every time I email JOYING tech support they send me the same video telling me how to bind buttons in the UI, but that doesn't help if the UI isn't showing any input level changes.
