Power-Off and Softwareupdate

Hello, im a new Owner of a JY-VO131N4GSN (4GB 64GB) for my 2013 Touran.

I have a few Questions about the Device:

- When i turn off the car the device - do not shut down but goes in something like a sleep mode.
But that means that it drains slowly of my battery? How can i change that? A longer boot time
is no problem for me.

- How do i check if my software is up-to-date and how do i update the newest firme/software?
